Hyroplanters are wafers of compressed New Zealand Sphagnum moss used for planting seedlings. They are an innovative product, designed to be a convenient way of planting that reduces labour time. They help speed up the planting process and also ensure that the same amount of moss is used each cell. Commerical growers all over the country are big fans of the product!
Hydroplanters are used as pairs to hold a seedling while being planted into a seed tray. When water is applied the moss expands immediately within the cell, supporting the seedling.
Hydroplanters have the same beneficial attributes of Sphagnum moss with improved functionality. Due to the long lasting properties of Hydroplanters, they are able to be planted directly into orchiata or wrapped in Spagmoss at the next stage of planting.
New Zealand Sphagnum moss is a versatile product renowned for its remarkable natural properties; it is long lasting with an excellent water holding capacity.
Deep on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island, water flows from the spectacular Southern Alps feeding the natural habitat of Sphagnum moss. From this pristine environment we harvest Sphagnum cristatum and Sphagnum subnitens to produce Spagmoss.
The natural beneficial properties of New Zealand sphagnum are enhanced by our exceptional production processes. The labour intensive process begins when the moss is hand picked from swamps which are dedicated to the farming of Sphagnum moss. After being extracted from the swamp by helicopter it is transported to Coastpak where the second phase of the processing begins.
Packs of 39 or 78 will be sent in a thick cardboard envelope using Australia Post, and is untracked. All other size packs of the sphagmoss will be sent in tracked packaging.
